Day 8: The RipTide

Crashing in at bar number 8 of 30 is the Riptide located at 3639 Taravel. The Riptide has been an outer sunset dive for as long as I can remember. Surfers young and old call the Riptide home, and rightly so! Stepping through the front door was like stepping through a time machine. Their are old neighborhood pictures, old posters and promotional items, surf boards, and a huge deer head lining the walls. The bar itself is huge and offers plenty of seating for it's patrons. Happy Hour runs from 4pm to 7pm daily, and there are even tasty munchies provided.
The Tide has a great selection of local beers on tap, a fantastic assortment of bottled beers, and just about any alcohol you can imagine, Tuesday night surf movies, nachos, and a great local vibe and crowd! Adeline and Eddie were our mixologists for the night. They kept our pitchers full and our livers pickled. The Riptide is easy to get to from anywhere in the city. So, if you are in need of a cold beer, great view, great bartenders, and local people... ride the L Taravel down to the Riptide and indulge yourself. It's getting close to that time, ah yes, the 2nd annual "All City Project: 30 Days of Debauchery!"

Come this June 2011, ACP will be swinging the debauchery in full effect. We, yet again, will be adventuring out to 30 NEW bars in 30 days throughout the whole month of June in the city of San Francisco.

This time with a bit of a make-over to add to the festive social experiment, ACP have crafted new and clever interactive entertainment for your debaucherous pleasure.

2010: Day 27: Black Magic Voodoo Lounge

2010:

Welcome to the Black Magic Voodoo Lounge! They don’t call this place Black Magic for nothing. Real VooDoo dolls hang above the bar, so don’t be cheap to the bartenders. They might put a Hex on your Cosmo. I kinda felt like I was in the witch doctor’s house.

Sunday’s are more laid back; Chill day for the debauchery. This place is small, but cozy.
Galvin was our bartender for the night and he was more than happy to assist the debauchery on Day 27. They have lots of bars on tap. (Big Daddy IPA, Hefeweizen, Stella, Anchor, Guinness, Sierra, Pabst Blue Ribbon) They didn’t have a juke box, but he did let Stretch play his ipod. “Neo Soul for everybody!” J/K Stretch. Cash only, so hit the ATM before you come.

Shot outs to Sara, Kristin (your mom in the house!), Asia, Chelsea, Angel, Rose, Clark, Ian, Greg, and Gildas. You really like us…

After 27 days of Debauchery, I’m gonna need a vacation from the madness of this social experiment. I know the ACP (All City Project) crew is tired, running out of money, and thinking about the next 30 days…Sobriety! Big-ups to Barack Jr. for doing the runs over the GG bridge 4 times! 2010: Day 23: Dirty Thieves

If you dig whiskey, scotch, bourbon, tasty beers and cheap cocktails then Dirty Thieves is the place to be. Located on the corner at 3050 24th Street between Lucky St. and Treat Ave. you're in for a Lucky Treat! Dirty Thieves is one installment of the "Thieves" Trilogy in San Francisco. If you enjoy Dirty Thieves, check out her sisters, Thieves Tavern and Whiskey Thieves. Dirty Thieves is a CASH ONLY bar (and yes fuk off again IRS) but not to fret, there is an ATM on location.

Dirty Thieves is a cozy watering-hole nestled on the corner of 24th St. and Treat Ave. This is a place for the after-work drink for many white-collared workers and the Mission's ever growing population of Hipsters, do I smell regentrification? In the words of the homie Jen, three words to describe Dirty Thieves, "Not the Same." I took that to be a positive thing knowing how grimey and unsavory 24th Street was and how it could be, present tense. There definitely was a good vibe with a nice cool crowd chillin' at Dirty for Day 23 of the All City Project: 30Days of Debauchery. Dirty has a cool jukebox that has a wide-range of song selections to please any one's ear holes, cool art work hanging around for visual stimulation, and a pool table to rack and cue. I found Dirty to be pretty spacious for a bar with ample seating including comfy booths for the faint-on-the-feet.

On our first shift, our mixologist was Jessica. She is a cool chick! Thanks darling! There was a Happy Hour from Noon until 8pm with $3 Well Drinks and $7 Shot and Beer combo. Do I smell more Jameson, hint, hint! On our second shift we had the cool homie Oliver and the lovely Lauren. Thanks guys, you rock hard too! And boy did the beers and liquor follow! Oh boy!!!

The ACPC had another great turn-out and many of us were contemplating what are we going to do once the "30 days" are up? "They try to make me go to rehab, I said no no no! I won't go oh oh!" I mean after the detox and travel plans in July? I guess it has to be the retox and a reunion, however drinking at a bar will not be the same after the 30 Day Project, it's going to be tough to top this experience! Well the ACPC has one final week to go, so check us out on twitter or the blogspot to check where we'll be. And for those ain't wit it, eat a d!ck!!! But for those that are wit it sing that sh!t! 2010: Day 21: The AVE

If you think because it was a Monday, the All City Project was going to relent just a bit, think again! Yall trippin,' there is no stopping! Last night ACP, doing the damn thang at the AVE. For yall that don't know, ya'll gonna find out!

Located at 1607 Ocean Ave, in the the Lakeview district, the Avenue Crew (ACP) ironically happen to be taking the debauchery to the AVE for day twenty-one. The AVE is far from your ordinary neighborhood bar. In a place that coins their jukebox "Home of the Freshest Jukebox in Frisco," there is no going wrong. The place is as vibrant and lively as the characters that you'll find frequenting the spot.

The AVE, offers a cozy and relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a long day on the clock. With two flat-screens and a projector, the place prides itself on many of the sporting events that are going on. Drinks specials are offered during The World Cup with $2 Trumer and $2 Tecate. For your MLB games they offer $3 draft beers long as there is a baseball game going on in addition, to the daily Happy Hour from 3-7pm, with $1 off well drinks and a menu list of special shots for $3. Oh, and they also offer wine tasting events 4-7pm for the wine drinkers (inquire within). Can you say drink specials galore?

Our mixologist for the night was John, you rock (shots out to Evansville)! He was very friendly and definitely has passion for his mixing abilities and knowledge of liquors. Along with the jukebox, cozy feel and a cool bartender the night was a perfect beginning to yet another week of debauchery.

The uniqueness of the AVE is built-up from the locals and their regulars. That's why its not your typical bar plus, how many places do you

know that you can pick up a game of bones (dominoes) or a game of spades with folks you've just met? If you're looking for great drink specials, a chill spot and a crackin' jukebox with everything from RBL Posse to Orange Juice Jone and a whole lot in between go visit the AVE. 2010: Day 19: Tommy's Joynt

Tommy's Joynt is a San Francisco classic, opened in 1947 this Hofbrau has been serving up great meals and drinks at great prices. It's a "Must Go"place to eat and drink for natives, transplants, and visitors alike. Located at 1101 Geary Boulevard Tommy's Joynt brings the "Joy" in their "Joynt"! Visit the website tommysjoynt.com and they can tell you everything I'm not. Lord forbid I get accused of plagiarism.

Tommy's Joynt serves homemade dishes of roast beef, turkey, corned beef, spare ribs, to buffalo stew and then some. There's even their unique daily menu. It boasts nearly 200 different beers from around the world, very impressive list! At this full bar a "Tommy's Joynt Irish Coffee" is the House Special and it can get you FUBAR'd. The beer on tap are nicely priced at $2.75 for a half pint and $4.50 for a pint. There are scores of beers in the bottle too and of course the ever seemingly endless flow of liquor, namely Jameson. Shots...shots...shots...shots....shots!!! Ain't that right Roxanna?! Tommy's Joynt is a CASH ONLY establishment (Yes fuk off IRS!) but not to worry, there is definitely an ATM on the premises.

So cutting to brass tacks, coming off the DPG at the Rock It Room the All City Project Crew (ACPC) attempted, and I stress attempted to come down from the multitude of drinks and something in the air the night before. Day 19 at Tommy's Joynt, wasn't going to happen either! Good thing there's yummy food literally feet from the bar. We started easy, but ended up going hard! Go hard!!! Yea, yea, yea, yea, yeah! Day 19 did not disappoint. The ACPC had a lovely turn out of some old and new family, friends, and friends of friends. Thank you all for coming out and showing love to the All City Project: 30 Days of Debauchery! With that being said I will call roll; Jess, Karim, Stan, Ben, Mark, Tricia, Clark, Jen, Sara, Basil, Joe, Fouad, Rob, Pauline, Roxanna, Marie, Ian, Sco-D, Rally:oh, Stretch Vet, and Mr. Barack Jr himself. So after the wonderful time at Tommy's Joynt the remaining ACPC headed down the street to Element Lounge where we caught some beats and basically drank some more. We ran into a fellow Wash-House Eagle named Mike who was our bottle-slinger. Thanks for the drinks brah! Whasup "Bullet" keep doing yo thang Uso!

2010: Day 18: Rockit Room (D.P.G)

Let's play....(WHOSE) HOUSE!!??!!
We own the deed and the title.............................so, this is undoubtedly the All City Project's house and permanent place of residence dumb ass!!!! Can you dig it!

Well, there was quite a f*cking party in our backyard Friday night,... in San Francisco, California's little known and under appreciated Inner Richmond District....Beeeaaaattttchhhh! And, once again...THE All City Project Crew made sure their debaucherous followers, loyal and indulgent project investors, insane, self destructive, month long, inebriating endeavors, and mouth watering local flavor were adequately represented, properly displayed, evenly distributed, and equitably allocated amongst the rest of All City's rapidly growing ravenous entourage of alcoholic constituents.

But, wait...take a deep breath......................Do you smell what Stretchvet is cooking???

Wooooooooowwwwwwww!!!!! I guess, "IT really Aint No Fun...If The Homies Can't Have None!" Yet, needless to say...that particular (borrowed) repartee miserably fails to accurately chronicle, describe, and illustrate all the delectable details and put the entire night's events in proper perspective! Nonetheless, "Dat's what's up!" And, like E-40 said, "the game is to be sold... not told."

The Rockit Room, which is located at 406 Clement street between 5th & 6th avenue, is one of The City's premiere (live) performance venues. Formally known as the Last Day Saloon, the R.R recently got a long overdue face lift and tummy tuck. Although, the name has changed The Rockit Room still has that same old flavor. They have a ridiculously brief... but great... happy hour Monday-Friday between 6pm and 8pm. The prices are too good to pass up and so is the bartender. Draft beers cost 3$ and mixed drinks go for about 5$. I got there early so I could take advantage of those great deals. You should too! Be warned...if you are planning on paying by credit card there will be a 15$ minimum (for all you cheap MF's). I drank all night long and only spent 40$. Right on "Little Miss F*ing Sunshine!" Can you say "Player price?" R.R has a pool table, itunes jukebox, several big ass flat screens, and gang load of comfortable seating for the weary and worn out weekday warrior! Erin, our bartender, was fantastic/friendly/fine/and funny as hell! Thank you for the great service. Monsta, the doorman was cool as f*ck and real as hell! Good sh*t Brooklyn!

The Dogg Pound (Daz Dillenger and Kurupt the Young Gotti) were in the house too... rockin the Rockit room, shaking the rafters, and banging the base boards! The house was packed... and despite most people's assumptions some sort of drama (stereotypically associated with today's urban music genres) would surely unfold as the evening progressed...; the vibe stayed peaceful, and... to the best of my recollection... there was no nonsense or b.s. whatsoever!
Although, there were a handful of (under 30's) rookies in need of an escort (and a real big glass of water) during the performance.

I had a blast and I'm sure you will too! Check their website for upcoming performances and shows and don't forget to tip your bartenders! They earn it!

2010: Day 15: Toronado

Tuesday night at Toronado was quite a juxtaposition to the night before at Cigar Bar. Located in the lower-Haight, the beer and wine bar only (one exception to the liquor is Underburg), serves a wide-range of quality beers from all over the world. With about fifty beers on tap and 50 bottled beers, Toronado is a beer connoisseur's wet dream. Toronado, is open daily from 11:30am-2am and offers a happy hour that begins when they open until 6pm, with $1 off every drink.

At the pub, the sticker covered walls, beer tap filled memorabilia decor and the smell of fermented beer reeks throughout the place. Bluntness and shrewdness prevails when ordering your beverage of choice. Far from the welcoming staff, the spigot-meister, Steve, some UK lad that prides himself on being a world-class asshole never took the time to enlighten us on the variety of beers or perhaps he just didn't know.

Toronado is not for the faint hearted I come to discover. Spend a few minutes looking over the menu and when ready blurt your order at the bartender as if you suffered from Tourette's syndrome. That's just the culture of Toronado it seems. In any case the three man staff Steve, Eric and the burly doorman (looking like a ran-down Tank Abbott) added to the characteristics of the place and made All City feel right at home with that DGF (don't give a fuck) attitude.

The wide-range selections of beers with many of them having higher alcoholic content (8%-11%) gave the experience a unique twist. Prices of a pint range from $4 to $8 and above. Some notable pints consumed were Duvel, Chimay, Lucifer (all Belgium), Czeau (Czech), Flemish Red (Netherland), Radeburger (German), and a pomegranate cider (CA) which all were great experience to the taste buds. So, if you love beer, want to get an international experience, don't mind a reeking pub and you appreciate straight-forwardness visit Toronado (also check out Rosamunde next door for your tasty food delights).

2010: Day 10: Fish Bowl

In the excitement of the NBA Finals, the beginning of the World Cup and day ten of "30 days of Debauchery," I have to say Thursday night was a WOW!!

Fish Bowl, located right off the bustling San Francisco streets of Divisadero and Pine was the scene of it all. With a happy hour that extends from 11:30-7pm (Monday-Friday) with $3 drafts and well drinks you can get your inebriation on and still have flow in your pocket.

Vibrant wall colors, surfboards and a Red Stripe bottle as a fixture in the fish tank, the setting of the place takes me to Baja Cali. With a lengthy happy hour the food menu is not far away. You can enjoy appetizers with a menu that is very diverse; array of classic items to specialties and all topping off at around $8.

The night was host to a nice mix crowd. I met people from all professionals backgrounds down to your "average Joe," who all so-happen to stubble into partaking of 30/30. Perhaps a bit on the smaller end for an ever increasing All City turn out, with a estimated 35 person-seating, the dynamics of the night definitely created a more up-close mingling scenario. The 4 HD flat-screens, hosting the NBA Finals and a digital jukebox kept the fun times rollin' within close quarters.

Our bartenders for the night Brendan (go Boston), Ana-Lisa and of course the homie Donald all helped in making All City's night a huge success. Ya'll rock!!! For eclectic grub and fun times visit Fish Bowl. The food was good, the drinks were even better. Big up Sean!
