Day 24: Elephant & Castle

The All-City Project crew is on fire after closing down the Show Down the night before. Day 24 of debauchery brings us to Elephant & Castle in the Financial District of the city. E&C is an English-style pub whose name was derived from Royal scandal and gossip dating back to the 14th century when Charles I was betrothed to a Spanish princess from Castille. The name originates from the first Elephant & Castle in London where it still operates to this day.

As visitors and residents were piling into the city for "Pride" weekend, everyone wanted a big bang for the buck! E&C did not disappoint! The food is great here, may I recommend their famous fish n' chips or deliciously well-made Shepard's pie. Either way if you're around the way come into this beautifully decorated English pub and have a cold beer or a cocktail and enjoy some great pub grub. You can catch sports games that are televised on one of the many flat HD T.V.'s or play some pool in the back room. I had numerous shots of Jameson whiskey, several pints of Boddington's ale, and at least 1 shot, that I remember of Jagermeister. The monster in me comes out when I drink Jager, good thing he didn't come out! phew!

The E&C staff was great and they took care of the All-City crew! Big thank yous to the Manager, Ian aka Munter, and our shot-slingers Daniel and Tara! You guys rock hard! Sorry if we kept you guys passed your bedtimes! Lol! The ACP crew closed-out yet another pub! Thanks to everybody who came out, it was indeed another grand time in the SFC! Day 20: Friends Bar

Wow! What a night, what a night, what a night! I've been closing down way too many spots on this debaucherous campaign trail. I must say though, that it's as fun as it looks! Coming off a blazin' a$$ weekend of debauchery, the ACP crew nestled into a local neighborhood bar called Friends Bar. Located at 558 Monterey Blvd. in the back of San Francisco City College, Friends is a nice cozy watering hole for the neighborhood locals and the ACP crew alike.

There's a couple of televisions for the sports enthusiast, an Internet jukebox, a pool and Foosball table, couple of comfy couches and a nice fire place for them cold nights. Friends even has a nice back patio when you want a change in scenery. They even serve a variety of bar fare like burgers, hot doggies, polish dogs, beer brats and popcorn. You have everything you need for a good night of drinking, no wonder Friends is the "neighborhood's finest hangout"!

Our shot-slinger and bartender for the evening was Rudy, Howie Mandel's twin brother! Rudy is a good dude, thanks for the friendly hospitality, you rock man! And yes, we're a little crazy for the 30 DOD project but I've accepted that already! I definitely can't forget the entrancing Miss Evelyn, whose the owner/operator of this enjoyable establishment. Thanks again dear for a lovely night, Toronto in the house!!!

Friends is a full bar that serves up a nice variety of beers on tap and in the bottle, some selections of vino and even champagne, you fancy huh?! The thing better than the drink selection is the price. You can have a great time and get your fix without breaking your wallet, I can dig that anytime! If you're in the neighborhood pop on in, I'll definitely come back to Friends, it's a great place to meet new friends...with benefits!

Day: 19 Valley Tavern

First off, All City Project crew would like to wish all the Father's of the world an Happy Father's Day, we would not be here without you. Most fathers would probably say "it was my pleasure"  - Damn right! Celebrating Father's Day and day 19, the 30 Days of Debauchery visits The Valley Tavern. Located at 4054 24th St. where their motto is "where the neighborhood meets."

Perched in the hills of Noe Valley and right up 24th st. from the Mission, Valley Tavern is a meeting place for all to enjoy. This is a great place to get out the house and come play. Valley Tavern consists of many features to keep you in the mood. There is no going wrong when you're pimped out with a 3 tier patio, 8 plasma flat-screens, 2 pool tables, a digital jukebox with a knocking sound and for the smokers an open-air smoke room. This makes great for those wonderful SF summer days.

Valley Tavern boasts 30 plus beers on tap in addition to the ones in bottles. All the fine liquor along with cocktail drinks done right, having the added condiments that you would expect of any quality tavern. Our bartenders Julie and Jon were great to us, a definite service with a smile. Ever want to journey outside your comfort bar, go get comfy at The Valley Tavern on 24th St., you'll be glad to return.

To my faithfuls, its roll call: big ups Natalie, Katy, Jessica, Eric, Melissa, Duinness, Monica, Chris, AG, Sabrina, StretchVet, E*Fizzle, S. Freezie, Rally Oh, Barack Jr. and anyone I may have forgotten. Happy Pop's Day! This drink is for you!!

Day 17: Fiddler's Green

Ahhhhh the luck of the Irish was with us tonight.  Located by Fisherman’s Wharf, Fiddler’s Green had that local charm with remnants of what I would think Ireland would be like.  (Need to plan a trip out there. Wait til they get a load of me!)   We got there early since we here this place can get packed, especially on a Friday night.  They have live music every day.   Sabbach plays from Thursday til Sunday.  He has been playing here for 15 years.  I’m sure Fiddler’s has been good to him and vice versa.  Once it hit 9pm, their upstairs opened up with a full bar, dance floor and a DJ to help you dance your ass off!  Wait, where am I?  This place has something for everyone.  More of the younger crowd was upstairs, while the mature local crowd was downstairs.  I spent most of my time with the O.G.’s.  Kevin, our bartender, host, entertainer and new friend was one of the best things that could happen to 30 Days of Debauchery and All City Project Crew!  The best way I can describe Kevin is that he was the combination of all of my favorite Irish folks rolled into one!  He heard from some of our friends that 30 Days was coming and he made sure he took care of us from the very beginning.  There was a point when I wanted to tip him out since he got me and Luther a shot, but he kept saying, “Ryan, don’t do that.”  We still managed to empty our pockets by the end of the night and made sure we left him with something.  Hey, when bars treat you that well, you’ll always come back.   I even got a chance to meet the owner Patrick and had a shot with him.  I think that was my back to back to back shots of Jamison.  Shot out to the rest of the staff: Jimmy, Dean, and Chris… Great job guys!  How does a chic come to the bar with no money and no ID and think she can come in?   Fiddler’s, I can’t thank you enough for the hospitality.  Next time when I visit, I’ll be coming for the food!

Day 16: The Taco Shop @ Underdogs

It’s going to be a good night when you hear “All City” before you walk in the place.  The folks are here and are ready to get down!  Day 16 brings us to The Taco Shop @ Underdogs. Why has it taken me so long to visit this hidden gem in the Sunset?  Everything I heard about this place was all correct.   Great place to visit.   Eat, drink, and watch sports, my kind of place!   Plenty of TV’s in every direction to watch the game.  Bucket of beer and some tacos!  You have to try the Carnitas Quesadilla.  Yum. Arcade games to keep the drunken girls entertained.  I’ll be back here for Taco Tuesday!  $2 tacos, $2 Tecate… hell yeah!   Not bad for a Thursday.  The Debauchery continues…

Day: 15 Club Waziema

Day: 15 Club Waziema

Club Waziema, located at 543 Divisadero St. is the place that marks the half-way point for the 30 Days of Debauchery event. Waziema is a bar hall that offers nice simple drinks and wholesome authentic Ethiopian cuisine.

Waziema is a hole-in-the-wall kind of place to get your perk on. Although, not really known for its bar-like atmosphere, Waziema provides a indoor socializing hall experience. Laced with a couple of TVs for fans to root on our beloved SF Giants, an OG jukebox, and a huge back room for people to play pool. You can will find something to your liking while enjoying a drink there.

Waziema's drink specialty menu hails a "keep it simple" mentality with about 20 traditional cocktails, ranging from Amaretto Sour, Kamikaze, Long Island Iced Tea and Vodka Collins to name a few. The drinks are made with care and love adding that goodness to it. In addition to simple spirits, they do have a modest range of beer on the menu for our consuming pleasure as well as the typical supply of alcohol on hand. However, if you dig Carlsberg like I do, Waziema is a place that will satisfy your thirst on tap.

If you find yourself in the mood, they offer both quality Ethiopian vegetarian food as well as dishes for the carnivore.

The ambiance of the place is mild, creating a perfect place for you and your friends to chillax and enjoy conversation. The place facilitates an artist platform for artist to express their work, while resonating of bit of that swag itself. Art deco from a modern contemporary era is fitting for a Divisadero St. relic.

Prices are sub-par  without the sub-par quality. If simple great tasting drinks with a relax socializing environment is something you enjoy, check out Club Waziema.

Day 3: Mars Bar

Oh no here we go again! The All City Playas hit the pave burning rubber! Day 3's adventure brings us to Mars Bar located 798 Brannan St. @ 7th Street in S.F.'s SOMA District. "Mars Bar" is back! After a couple of owners and name changes, the Mars Bar I remember is back!

Mars has Happy Hour Mon. - Fri. 3-7 PM and a kitchen that serves up a delicious menu from typical bar food to scrumptious salads, soups and pasta, to individual pizza pies. Stop in for lunch and try one of their Daily Lunch Specials. They even have $2 Taco Tuesdays and $2 Tecate beer all night long.

Mars caters to a nice after-work social hour crowd with a pool table, an internet jukebox, a couple of flat screens showing our dearly beloved Giants beating the Rockies. You can enjoy a drink at the bar or at one of the tables, or even outside on the gas heated patio. As the evening progresses the second shift of party people started coming out, from the pre-club partiers, the birthday peeps, and the folks that just wanted to get another dose of debauchery. Guest DJ's were also in the house to spin a variety of music for our listening pleasure.



Our bartender Paul kept the drinks flowing and suddenly that ugly girl on the other side of the bar appeared more and more bash-able, did I do that?! Thanks a lot Paul! The ACP crew wants to give a big birthday shout out to our buddy Basil, thank you for celebrating with us. All in all the night was awesome!

2010: Day: 30 Trad'r Sam’s (The Finale)

As we come to the end of this social experiment, we also come home to the our first bar, Trad'r Sams.  During my 13 years of drinking (Legally), Tradr Sams was the first bar I used to hang out in.  I've met a lot of cool people, hooked up and broke hearts in this bar.  Sams was the perfect way to end the Debauchery.  Many thanks to my family folks @ Trad'rs!  Uncle John, Demoe, Fred, Gary, Marvin, Eee-Gor... and  for the rest of the crew that wasn't working: Tula, Raja, Dough-ee, Chad, Orlando, and Steve...Thank you as always!

This month was an excellent example of what you can do when you put your mind to it! This was a group idea turned experiment... turned reality...and it was fun as hell! Trad'r Sams was the first bar I was able to frequent legally, so it made sense for me to go back for a debaucherous finale. Thank you to everyone that came out in support of our project and right on for destroying your liver and kidneys with us. Dedication is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this endeavor...!

Coming into the last day of the All City Project: 30 Days of Debauchery, 30 Bars in 30 Days it was automatic that we, the All City Project Crew (ACPC) were going to be at another bar on another day. However, this day was no ordinary day. It was Day 30 of our revolutionary social experiment and we’ve found the light at the end of the tunnel, and we all wanted to go out with a BANG! The finale for our experiment was at a place that most of us we’re familiar with, Tradr Sam’s located on Geary Blvd. and 26th Ave. in the Richmond District. We had a great turn-out with many familiar faces and faces that showed up for the first time for the project, better late than never. Thank you D-Moe, Fred, Raj, Marvin and the rest of the Tradr Sam’s crew!

The arrival of Day 30 was met with anticipation of excitement, a time of relief, a sense of accomplishment, and an end to a wonderful month of June 2010. Each of my comrades in this project; Ryan, Thomas, Luther, Darrick, and Ian can rightfully say, we are the champions, I am the champion! And I have the muthafu@kin’ belt to prove it too! We came, we conquered, and I’m about to come again! After countless hours at the bars, nearly a couple thousands of dollars evaporated, and a beat down to my kidneys and liver this experience is finally done. The experience, the friendships, the conversations, the people, and the new memories gained by this project are priceless. I honestly believe we could not have pulled this off without our buddies in crime. If we did, we would have some very serious issues! It would not be the “All City Project” without some of Frisco’s Finest representing this lovely city. With the 30 Days of Debauchery being completed the ACPC are in the history books, this is definitely one for the ages and at the least a once in a lifetime experience to check off, of “things to do before you check-out list.”

I think I’m still a little petrified with what just happened and it’ll take a little time to realize what we’ve been through. Like I said, going to a bar or socializing for me will not be the same after the All City Project 30 Days of Debauchery. The bar has been set pretty high. Throughout the 30 days and the 30 different spots I can’t choose one as a favorite, being mindful of the certain nights that we were there and other nights we weren’t definitely makes a difference. I had fun at all 30 places for better or worse and I’m sure that the debauchery will continue far beyond any words of this post and then some. I want to personally thank everyone from Day 1 to Day 30th who came out and joined us and supported us during this project, because truly it wouldn’t have been the same grand time without each and every one of you guys and gals and I sincerely mean that! You all know who you are! A special thank you goes to our lovely “Hottie” contestants; you are all winners in my book! Look out for the next episode, the “Reunion” and what’s coming up next on the All City Project list of shenanigans! Stay tuned! Until next time, One Love!

Greetings all. I don't know how many of you are going to read this post. After all it it an extremely late entry. Trader Sam's was the shit. We definitely saved the best for last. It was our biggest turn out. I cannot speak for everyone, but I was drunk. I felt like Michael Jordan, wearing the number 45 jersey, stepping back on to the home court after he returned from retirement. Once we became old enough to drink, legally, Trader Sam's was our first home. For ACP this is where we first learned how to drink, and more importantly, how to conduct our selves while drinking at random saloons across the face of the earth. Fred, Demo and the rest of the family at Trader Sam's have always treated us as just that, family. It was only right that on the 30th day of June in the year of our Lord 2010 we return home to family to finish what we started. Thank you all for showing up in support of the thirty day project, and i hope everyone put there grab bag to good use. God knows some of you need some lotion!




Over all the ACP was a success. We found several new bars and places to have fun. People were able to come out and enjoy them selves amongst friends and family. Several connections were made, some were reconnections with old friends. It was a great time and I look forward to seeing you all at the reunion.

Wow... absolutely amazing! We made it. I need to thank my guardian angel for allowing me to get through the 30 days of June 2010 in one piece. A rubber bag, pine box, Intensive Care, or jail cell could have been the outcome, thankfully not. Met some really great new people (you know who you are)... on top of that, it's always cool reconnecting with friends that all go back more than a decade! Had a f*ckin' ball, damn-near every night definition of EPIC!


Is there another 30 Days in my future... hmmm, need to ask the debauchery genie about that one! Props to the All City Firm, and everyone else who tolerated the Fizzle week after week. To all the hearts I broke... haha, yeah right! A new beginning: I have chosen to live this new month like a monk, in isolation, in silence, yet without the distilled grains, hypnotizing chants, and religious directive. The 30 Days of Debauchery will only exist in archives printed on parchment made from baby dinosaur skin, under lock and key, day and night. Thanks to all who were able to join and unite in a little bit of history. ¡Salud!

2010: Day 28: Pilsner Inn

2010: Coming off a weekend where SF Pride celebrated forty-years of diversity with a massive parade and festival, All City Project was not far behind. Monday night ACP celebrated day 28 in the Castro, yes, you heard right in the Castro. After all, All City would not be all city if we didn't hit San Francisco's infamous Castro.

Pilsner Inn, located at 225 Church St, is a goulash of pro-sports, patio, pinatas and penguins (how's that alliteration). The place is very spacious both inside and out. It has a very comfy back patio that goes great in the summer heat. Along with the layout, PI has 24 beers on draft that are eclectic as the Pride flag that hangs. Some notable drafts are the Boonville (amber ale), Hell or High Watermelon (wheat), Fat Tire, Chimay, Boddingtons, Ace Perry, Stock Top and of course (hey) Big Daddy. In addition to the taps there are many other bottle beers that I'm sure one can find a niche for. Pilsner Inn, does not have a Happy Hour, instead they hosts all day daily specials (that switches day to day) which is fantastic because you can show up when you show up.

Our bartender for the night was Mike (you rock!!). He was nice, knowledgeable and attentive to ACP's copious drinking abilities. Although, I did not have any cocktails, Mike makes a mean margarita for those who dare to take the taste test. Prices are fair and the service do you justice. If you're looking for a good time, want to meet interesting people and have some drinks visit Pilsner Inn.

PI has many activities and games to keep you occupied and drinking. They boast a pool table, 2 flat-screens for your sporting needs, 3 pinball machines, a few other misc. games, a digital jukebox and my favorite Cali Lotto. The best thing off all is that they provide condoms for the promiscuousness in all of us. Thanks PI for the jimmies!!!! Muahahahah!!!

A big thank you to all those who showed up and kick it with ACP! Big ups to Ian, Shakeena, Katie-doll, San Pancho Libre, Stretchvet, Rally Oh, Barack Jr, Stephanie (Backstreet Bitches, really?) and to all the ladies & fine handsome menssss that was clocking me and my crew (what would you do? if you can get with me and my crew?)
