2010: Day 8: Aub Zam Zam

America was founded on the principles of independence and equality. In fact, revolutionary thoughts, ideas, and actions have become her backbone. Furthermore, on the heels of the 2010 Elections taking place in California and the beginning of our second week of Debauchery... the All City Crew decided to search out the home of modern American revolution. And, being that San Francisco is the most progressive and culturally expressive city on the planet....we thought we would start right here. From inception to present day... each American revolution has made it's mark on modern society and been a movement of the masses, by the people, and for the people.

Well......, revolution certainly found a home in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury district at Aub Zam Zam this past Tuesday. Like the counter culture of the 6o's that culminated in the streets of the Haight along a six block span of boutiques, coffee shops, smokers, toe-kers, and trippers, the All City Project brought their revolutionary social experiment gone haywire to Aub Zam Zam. Notable musicians like Jimmy Hendricks, Janice Joplin, Mic Jagger, Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead only helped solidify the Haight Ashbury's place in history. Aub Zam Zam did much of the same and much much more.

Aub Zam Zam is one of the few classic Martini Bars left in the city. Located at 1633 Haight, Aub Zam Zam revolutionized the craft back in the 40's by highlighting fantastic martini making abilities and "behind the bar" banter only a barber could rival. These days... you still get more of the same. Diane and her husband Bob are fantastic owners and continue to keep that classic flavor and great local flare. Diane was quite the Beatles fan by the way!!!

Mike, our bartender, was as smooth as silk as he whipped up martini after martini and an infinite number of cosmopolitans with grace. David, one of the regulars, had a plethora of memories, little known facts, musical history, and local lore to share with me during the evening. He and Diane had stories like no other! Zam Zam's prices were great! A bottle of Pabst was 2$ and during "cocktail time" you would be plain loco if you did not take full advantage of the fantabulous deals.

So, if you are looking for a place to come and unwind, sip on an intoxicating adult refreshment, and hear some classic Rock n' Roll... then Aub Zam Zam is definitely the place for you.

Thank you to all the supporters who have come out by the masses! All City baby!!!!
