Supposedly, Illinois is one of the most corrupt states in the country...and deservedly so... (if that is even a word). From crooked dirty cops...to sleazy elected officials... someone somewhere is getting their pockets laced, their hands greased, or their balls busted! And, of course the ACP wanted a piece of that action. The most shady and underhanded riff raff on the planet lurk down... the deepest darkest alleyways... and on... the craziest corners of the Bayview Hunter's Point neighborhood, but that wouldn't be enough to keep us from getting our cut! Don't get it twisted...debauchery is as underhanded and shady as it gets! Furthermore, being that the All City Project is just one week away from a well earned... month long... detox..., we decided "Retox", located on 20th Street and Illinois, would be the perfect Tuesday night watering hole for us to rejuvenate our livers, kick start our kidneys, and crack some heads (of beer & Jameson bottles).
Retox is a small local establishment that normally features live music every night, but being that the main owners were out of town for business...it was relatively mellow for a Tuesday evening (and thank goodness for that). But, luckily we had the place to ourselves for the majority of the night. Our beautiful bartender, Fawn, was amazing! She kept the beers flowing and the shots going. Maybe that's why I have a fucking headache with Excedrin written all over it! Anyway,
Fawn kept tight beats pumping the entire night and really made us feel at home. Pat, brother of the owner, also made us feel like kings. He gave us a quick tour of the basement music stage...which came complete with a "Nash Bridges" stage set and all it's amenities; and gave us a little background history about the place and different bands that have played there in the past few years! Right on Pat and Fawn! So, if your rolling down 3rd street... and you are looking for a cool spot to hit along the way...try Retox!
Great to see: Rob, Pauline, Christin, Marie, Kelani, Brandon, Julie, Dolla, Phil, My sista girls with the stunners on (at night), Sco-D, Spence, Ian, Ralley and Tee (better late than never), the shady muthafukas in that white van (fuck you too), and anyone else I may have missed! Is this shit over yet???
