2010: Day 25: The Abbey Tavern

F*ckin A... this is getting ridiculous! Day 25 started off decent, got lucky and hopped on the 38 with less than a 5 minute wait (thanks MUNI). Met up with the homie Clark right as I got off the bus on 6th Ave. Crash-landed at The Abbey Tavern on the corner of 5th and Geary around 8pm. Most of the All-City Crew were on their way out, headed to a wedding in Sabastopol. The night was young so I took advantage of the $3.50 Carlsberg pints and sh*t started crackin'. The bartender Beate (DJ Shrobi-Girl) was cool, but getting a drink was like waiting for your number to pop up at the DMV.

Early on someone party fouled pretty hard (rum and coke perhaps?), so all night, right next to the entrance there was a sticky spot that made your shoes go "click-clack", nobody bothered to mop up. The spot had an old-Irish feel to it, clean game room, dim lighting. Some old lady was bitchin' at me about how I was standing too close to her friend's seat (WTF?). ¡She gets tha thizz face! There was a small stage where two bands played... the first one was called: Useless Desires. They should change their name to: Useless Noise. They sucked, hardcore. They tried to rock, but every song was a constant, dragging, droning... f*ckin wide-awake nightmare. ¡They get tha thizz face! The second band was called The Moonlight Orchestra, who were better, but at that point my ears and brain were exhausted from an hour of listening to complete garbage. I bounced after a couple songs.

After-partied back at Eve* (*see Day 4) with Gen, Mike and a few others. Punk-ass doorman looks at me and goes: "Wow, there are a lot of reasons you're not getting in tonight!" Automatically, I'm thinking: "This motherf*cker doesn't like me for some reason." I couldn't figure out why. All 6 of us were like : "Goodbye", and when he sees that I was with a big group, he was like: "Aww sorry man, it's all good, I thought you were someone else who was causing trouble here earlier!" Bullsh*t! Long story short, I got in, chilled for a while and left around 2. Might not be related, but I was the only white dude in the club... and it was packed! Reverse discrimination? On my way out I confronted the doorman, who eventually apologized. ¡He gets tha thizz face!

On to the next one!

Roll call shout outs: ACP, Clark, Fouad, Jennifer, Jen Choy, Tank, Chelsea, Jess, Monica, Joe S., Joe F., Azarah, Basil, EST, J. Anthony, Angel, Katie, Kristin (made sure to spell that right!), Joya, Gen, Mike, and Mark... anyone I left out, apologies!

This has been an E*Fizzle™ Production.
