2010: Day 26: The Final Final

The agony of defeat. Day 26 was all about the World Cup: USA vs Ghana, not the other Day 26 (that weak-ass R&B group Diddy tried to push on MTV). The Final Final (on Baker and Greenwich) was packed, if you got there after 11:30am there was a 30 minute wait in line outside before getting in. Heads from the All City Firm arrived early and did their thing before returning back north for their friend's wedding. I go back like damn-near ten years with The Final Final... used to have Golden Tee™ tournaments and free drinks, all on the company tab circa 2001 (Bless the Gold Coast Sports Club™!). Definitely a sports bar without a doubt, there is ton of SF Giants and 49er parapheranalia clattered everywhere.

The atmosphere was intense during the game... the highlight was probably when the US tied the game 1-1, the place erupted. You could feel the disappointment when Team USA ended up losing 2-1 in extra time. The clientel were well behaved, most seemed a little older, like late 30s+.

The Marina is notorious for douche-like yuppy transplant scum, but I didn't get that vibe that day; everyone seemed respectable (temporarily perhaps). Nadene was the bartender and did a great job keeping up with massive traffic. Scott worked the door and was cool, I vaguely remembered him from back in the day.

All-City, Roxy, Sara, Fouad and Kristin were all in attedence. See yall soon, the finish line is fast approaching and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Side note: It was a bad day for the USA and Russia: Not only did Team USA get eliminated from the World Cup, Fedor Emelianenko (A Russian fighter, hyped to be the toughest man on Earth) suffered his first real loss to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt Fabricio Werdum (a 6:1 underdog) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

This has been an E*Fizzle™ Production.
